The way in which the man is standing signifies to me, that he has some kind of owner ship of something, by the way he has his hand on his hip and his feet firmly apart.
His clothes could suggest that he is living on the street, or just doesn't care what he looks like.
The cigareette he's smoking suggests a stressful life perhaps, maybe he's a working man.
The way he is standing also suggests to me that he's in the middle of doing something and he's having a break or waiting for somebody to arrive.
